'Aftersun' trailer promises a powerful portrait of fatherhood with Paul Mescal

A24's trailer for Aftersun teases a poignant, moving examination of fatherhood, memory, and a vacation to remember from debut Scottish writer/director Charlotte Wells and lead Paul Mescal. The Normal People star plays Calum, an idealistic man living away from his doting 11-year-old daughter Sophie (newcomer Frankie Corio), and the pair spend a rare holiday at a '90s holiday resort in Turkey. Among deep chats about life and growing up, they take plenty of Polaroids and video of silly dance moves. Two decades later, Sophie remembers their time together through these clips and photographs (and Gregory Oke's beautiful cinematography), and reflects on everything her father taught her while trying to figure it all out himself.Aftersun showed first at this year's Cannes Film Festival, and will hit cinemas Nov. 18.
